Grandview Road

About This Project

Here at Maison Poisson you are not only in an apple orchard in small town Sebastopol,  you feel the essence of Southern France.

This rural French inspired residence was built in 1984 with old-world master craftsmanship utilizing timbers for carved hewn beams and lintels, a massive 17th C limestone fireplace, a stairway built without any metal fastenings, antique terra cotta tile floors, 19 C doors with their original hardware, and the piece de resistance is the 17 C 14 foot tall  fanlight window in the conservatory.  A pair of 19 C  front doors with forged iron gates,  lanterns, gables, fountains and chimneys to vary the profiles as arriving guests enter the courtyard facing the  Normandy style barn with vines and ivy tangling  over the doorways.   The promise of pleasure and relaxation the exterior gives is fulfilled in the beautiful rooms within.  Closer inspection reveals beautiful views,  stone terraces, porches, generous decks, cobble stone paths, underground wine cellar,  stone walls and mature gardens, and a gabled dormer one bedroom guest apartment over the garage.   This is truly a unique property of superb quality and permanence with a connection to nature typically found in Normandy and Provence where all the country antiques were once used that make this maison warm and inviting. The 2 bedrooms and 2 baths recall all aspects of a French country lifestyle.  The grandeur and elegance of this maison is only surpassed by the views over the apple orchard in bloom.  There is something intoxicating about it all….
